I have multiple questions:
1. If I buy a $60 pre-paid card off amazon.com and activate it on my xbox after I changed the region both on my Xbox and my account to US, will I be able to buy it with that?
2. Can I change my region back afterwards?
3. Will my UK IP not prevent online access?

Just regarding Pre paid codes.....do you need to redeem the code once you've switched your console's region to the foreign country? Because when I went to purchase Fifa 15 earlier (I was using India store) it only asked me for a credit card, although I haven't yet uploaded my pre-paid code.

One more question, what if my pre paid codes don't stack up to the value of the game? Will I get an option to top up with a credit card?
 
Redeem your pre-paid code on the console when you have switched to the region the code is from
If you dont have enough credit you will not be able to buy the game until you get another pre-paid code
 
Thanks for the reply - ah, so I have to buy Indian Rupees Xbox pre-paid cards as opposed to GBP ones?
 
Billing problems & feel in a pickle

We bought Fifa 15 on 24th from Us store and got charged twice for game.
Our bank has paid it back to us - but also had a call back from xbox/microsoft who said they would sort and to stop charge back with bank...but no money from microsoft yet !!!

they told us they changing areas is NOT allowed and if done again could lead to account ban - i did lie and say my son travels alot around world with job and they told me to keep to one area even if he is in another country to just keep to uk as easier to check on problems

My son last night has bought more points/packs from UK store ( like packs of cards) but i sure it showing up on his bank account as MSFT*Billing US still

UPDATE : I followed OP instructions and looked at my US account - and could see that son had bought extra player packs from US but seems to take longer to show up on bank account (uk purchases not showing up yet ) & also that there was a refund yesterday for Fifa 15 but cant see that in bank account yet - cant call bank and tell them about it as need son at home to call them.

I would also like to thank the OP for there very clear information - it has helped me greatly as i didn't even know you could look into uk and us microsoft purchase so easy

So if I have say watch dogs disc from the uk, I should not purchase the watch dogs DLC from another region?

If you don't mind taking a risk you can try it. It might work, it might not is what im saying. If it works for one game it doesn't mean it will work for them all however, that's why i would advise playing it safe.
 
So let me get this straight.

Switch Xbox region and account region to US and make a fake billing address. (Could I just use a college address?)

Buy prepaid US cards

Download game

Switch back to original region and game will be playable? Is it okay to pre order games through the US store?

I seen this on Uk Hot Deals forum - how true is it ?

Ultimate Team Packs - I would think twice before purchasing these from another territory. UT has turned into a license to print money for EA (all of the EA Sport games now have UT modes!). There is a big black market behind UT which EA have said they are keen to stamp out (whether they do or not is another thing!), but I would be a little wary of making regular purchases of UT packs from another territory!


 
So very easy. Bought two gift cards off pcgamesupply, arrived instantly, changed region on Xbox to US, redeemed codes, purchased Forza Horizon 2, asked for billing details, entered Oregon address and US phone number, installing, job done.

Not sure if I can play the game early in the UK so going to leave the store at US until tomorrow... I'll be doing this from now on :)
 
I'm having a problem with another game. I went to get Skate 3 but I got an error message before the download could start saying something went wrong, the file is corrupted or it's not available in my region with error code: 80150017. I need to know if I use a VPN to change to a US address will I even be able to play the game or will it be incompatible?

This tutorial is for the Xbox One, not the Xbox 360. Have a look at this tutorial: Xbox 360 VPN setup for Xbox Live. You will require a US VPN to download the game.

I just made an account here primary to say thank you to Hoffman that wrote this precious step-by-step guide to buy games on US Store. I already followed this guide in March to buy a game there, the price in dollars was much cheapier than euros, obviously, but for me was very difficult to buy US Gift Cards. The sites that I found did not sell them outside the US, or were very expensive (dollar-euro almost 1-1). Paypal did not work, and I did not want risk my credit card to buy on a marketplace of a different region from mine (I feared that MS could block my CC, even if I was not worried for my purchases or for a possible ban). So I abandoned the idea.

Today I came here again to read the new posts, and read the post of the user Epic that spoke about pcgamesupply.com. I bought the US cards there, was cheap and easy. Just bought Alien: Isolation for about 50 euros instead of the 69.99 of the Italian store.
So, thank you to all the people that contributed to this guide with their experiences and particularly to Hoffman and Epic!

Guys .. Guide me pls .. I have US region profile and bought a movie from the Xbox One Video. After about three weeks of watching the movie in bits and parts, I am being asked to sign into Xbox Video store to watch my collection . When I try to login it shows error 0xc00d1126 and says check my internet connection . And if I am surely connected to Internet then check the router. At this time I am already signed into all services including Xbox live. But unable to sign into Xbox video and Xbox music and unable to watch my purchased movies. Pls help.
 
Hello guys, i'm kind in a unique scenario, I'm in mexico, i've preloaded Fantasia Music Evolved yesterday, becouse it was suppused to launch here in mexico today (oct 21st), but apparently Harmonix messed up and it actually launches next week (28th), i've already have bought and downloaded the game, it's just locked, can i play fantasia during this week using the metod described in this guide and then switch back my console´s region to Mexico? anyone has tried this? Buying in your home region but being locked until release date??

Nope you need to wait until the game is released in the region you purchased it from. You would have to buy the game again in a region it's released in if you wanted to play it right now.
