It depends what dash he is currently on, the iXtreme firmware is really old so chances are his dashboard version is too, its likely his DVD firmware will be flashed back to stock. He really should upgrade to LT3.

It sounds like you had a problem downloading.
I would recommend trying again, i just downloaded the file to confirm its availability.
