Free McBoot (FMCB) is the installer that puts a homebrew launcher on a PlayStation 2 memory card, so the console starts your own programs from the card at power-on instead of needing a disc. The same program installs Free HDD Boot (FHDB), the version for a PS2 internal hard drive. Version 1.966 is dated 13 April 2019 and is credited to Neme, jimmikaelkael, SP193 and Woon Yung.
Download:
Free McBoot 1.966
The zip holds the installer (FMCBInstaller.elf with its INSTALL, lang and licenses folders), the readmes and changelogs, and the installer's source code in a separate folder, all unchanged.
How to install / use:
The readme in the zip says all retail PlayStation 2 consoles are supported and no extra files are needed. The first time you run the installer you need some other way to start it, for example an exploit disc or an existing launcher.

How to install / use:
- Extract the FMCB_1.966 folder to a USB mass storage device. Keep every file, including the lang folder: the installer will not work without it.
- Start FMCBInstaller.elf on the console, by whatever way you already run homebrew from USB.
- Pick an installation type (normal, cross-model, cross-region or multi-installation) and install to the memory card. The installer can dump the card first, as mc0.bin or mc1.bin: do that to keep your saves.
