This is an Nintendo DS homebrew application, therefore it will need to be run from an Nintendo DS flashcard.

This application allows you to backup savegames from your retail Gameboy Advanced games, the application is also capable of dumping a rom of your GBA games.

The author of the application blocked this from running on M3 flashcards on later versions, however i have used version 0.1 to backup my saves from all the Pokemon games on the Gameboy Advance.

Download GBA Backup Tool 0.1 (Works on M3 Flashcards)
Download GBA Backup Tool 0.2
Download GBA Backup Tool 0.21

I have been using this to backup my save files but I haven't been able to do it backwards. I get my .sav and open the emulator, I trade some Pokémon and when I open the GBA Backup Tool and press R, nothing happens.

What could it be? I'm 98% sure my cartridge is original.

Thanks in advance.

When using the emulator have you set it to use 128k save files? you might be trying to restore a 64kb save file at a guess.

i'm trying to import my emerald save that i was playing on 3ds but it's not working, i pass the save on the emulator and extract it to a 128k save file and try to restore it using the gba backup tool but nothing happens ... simply delete the save that is in my emerald and stay on the "new game" screen .... 98% sure that my cartridge is original

Does your emerald save you have exported work on VBA or open in PkHex? that's one way to try ensure its a valid save.

Yes , work in VBA and open in PKhex but the gba backup tool does not restore the save to cartridge, i had to choose another option , i restored using the gba cable link dumper with gamecube and works fine.

So i have my r4 gold pro and downloaded to the flashcards along with the .savs but I cant access the .sav files to put on my game. I tried .1 and .21 but dont see the option to write the .sav file on my fire red if that how it works.

having an issue with the 0.21 version. I copy and paste the .nds, .ini, and GBA_backup files to the SD card and when I open the program I get "Couldn't find _DS_Menu.DAT" What am I missing/ doing wrong

What flashcard do you have? try using FAT32 Formatter as it can make a difference compared to formatting with Windows. If you have a really old R4 card you might be limited to 2gb SD cards.

Is there a way to get in touch with the author? The app doesn't work with Dave Mirra 2 on the GBA (US Version). I've tried two different copies of the game and even bought a GB Operator to double-check. The GB Operator works perfectly, but GBA Backup Tool doesn't.

I'm using CycloDS (latest firmware) on a fat DS.

And like I said, it works on other games that have an EEPROM save. But when GBA Backup Tool 0.21 tries to back up Dave Mirra 2's save, the file is just 512 bytes full of hex Fs. I even manually changed from auto to 8 KiB and it was just 8 KiB of hex Fs.

Since it works successfully in GB Operator, I have to assume it's a software issue.

If he's abandoned it, I don't want to bother him. He probably has more important things to do.
