It will be released between now and Kinect. If they can't stabilize the update, then one of two things will happen...

1) You will get a buggy update to your xbox, and support requests will rise, costing Microsoft money.
2) Kinect will be delayed, upsetting many retailers and customers, costing Microsoft money.

As you can see they want to get it out just as bad as you illegal build users want to get back on to live.
Just be patient, and Microsoft will get it out ASAP.

I lost it for 1.5 months with my gold sub ticking away, I don't see the big deal. When I got my new slim, the only gold feature I have been using is Netflix. lol
