Red Alert 3 Semi-Public Beta

The Red Alert series has always been a bit silly, but adding a third new faction in Red Alert 3 based on Japan was just too easy for the developers. So in addition to armored Russian bears and a female Russian commando with short shorts, you can play around with mecha, transformable mecha, and a Japanese schoolgirl named Yuriko who is a bit like that crazy kid in Akira who destroyed Tokyo with his mind.
I played with the Empire of the Rising Sun for the first time, and this is a faction unlike the Soviets or the Allies. The Japanese build system is different in that queuing a building gives you a special construction unit that goes to a spot you select and unpacks there. Distance doesn't play a role, so you're no longer limited to putting energy structures next to your constructor; you could put them across the map if you want.


Information:

The beta is currently in private stages, EA are making people buy Kanes Wrath expansion pack for C&C3 to get a beta key which can be used to install this. We are doing all we can to provide up to the minute information as it breaks, on ways for the general public to install it. This page will be updated regularly by staff and members with information as it breaks.

Note: This is not the full Red Alert 3 game, it is a BETA.

This means its not a final copy of the game, it was multiplayer only and had a couple of maps.

Copy this into ra3 beta directory and run.

2nd: In ra3 beta fodler go to support and open localization.ini and set "demo=0" to demo=1 - cd key will not needed.

But CD-key needed to play - game will ask at first start. So we waiting for a crack...

What about using the CD Keys in the post by Nimrod? Are these not accepted by the installer?

From what I’ve been told even if you manage to get it installed the only game play option in the beta is online playing using the EA servers, so a patch/modification would be needed to enable lan or direct ip play.

Thats just it, we are awaiting a crack that will let you launch a net game by an IP address or to get the game to allow a skirmish or lan game. Basically anything that will allow you to play. I'm sure someone will crack it and release it at some point and as soon as it is, it will be posted up here. Just a case of holding on. In the mean time you can download the client and try your luck with any of the CD keys provided, or attempt to find more, though please post them here if you do!



On other news, I recently did the online update for my Beta (I'm legally on the beta) and for the v1.1 update, it said the following bug was fixed:

· Fixed a bug which allowed hacking the game to allow LAN play.

Now I've been all over the internet trying to find this crack with no luck, I shall continue and hopefully it will be leaked onto the net soon in which case it will be posted up on this site for everyone to download for free. If anyone else finds this patch, please share it by posting!

well, hacking/cracking this game could be VERY dificult, the game checks the serial online, It is dificult to disable this activation.
the same securitie is used with Alone in the Dark and Bioshock
bioshock took weeks before a crack, alone in the dark still isnt cracked
(there is a small chance I am wrong with this)

a good crack whould be an fake EA server
RA3Beta sends a code away, then it recieseves a code back which says if the key is good or not.
only thing to do is make sever that always says that your serial is good.
bad thing, I have no Idea if this is even posible.

second idea is tranvering as many stuff to to CNC3, this is tryable but I have no idea it works. if I get this working I will post it.

I think its clear there are two types of crack needed:

One to install the beta (either CD key or modified installer or self installed via .cab files)

One to enable LAN play because there is no way to play online on the Gamespy servers without a valid CD key.

If someone who has installed RA3 Beta could please test the crack attached.

Once someone has confirmed how to get it working I want to tidy this thread up with a guide on how to do it. We just need someone to confirm what crack works.

The goal is just to get the beta working on either lan play, or skirmish so everyone can enjoy this. And by the fact EA released an update to "block" the LAN crack proves there is one out their.

Right click save target as, save to desktop and open? Sounds like a browser problem.

At the moment the only thing that works is the cd keys posted in the first post, using the later cracks to remove the serial number check causes the game to ask for a valid cd.

We need two things at the moment, firstly a patch to actually allow the game to load up, after this has been successful a modification is needed to allow lan play instead of online play using EA's servers.

This is the result of using the cd keys and modifications posted here.

Nope anything posted here is just what people have found from the net, if you know of anyone working on a LAN patch we would be interested to know.

Sadly it’s not looking promising at the moment but you never know these days someone could be coding away right now!

I'm from the team who cracked Bioshock last year, and I'm thinking of ways to get around the CD protection (which should be easy), then enable LAN play (which is going to be challenging). Still downloading the setup executable though, but I'll post any progress later today.

There is a large discussion going on at mininova.
A user called "poonzone" got some tip about how to enable menus (comment 164).
Maybe Cheeseman1208 can do something with it.

Woah now, Now I haven't enabled the menus. What I did find are the menus. My problem was trying to figure out if this build even had the menu system in place. A smart company would have removed all of this stuff from the game for a BETA release but that would require a special build of the game which cost time and money. The data is there, you throw it into a HEX editor and you can see all the multiplayer settings for a LAN game.

You still need to crack the game to bypass either the cdkey check or the securom check. Then you still need to turn on the menus. What I provided are just ideas of where to figure this out. I know some guy is going to be like, you idiots, and crack the game in a few hours but I am amazed its taken this long already.

Some areas to look at for breaking the securom and cdkey check would be:

As for the menus:
I would say looking at Battle For Middle Earth 2 and seeing where the menus are setup, possibly the SDK or look at the 1.1 patch that EA release and see what that changes cause that will point to the LAN Menu edits to disable it.

A few of pointers for all posters to understand:

Posting saying I need a crack or please tell me how to make it work isnt helpful. We know it doesnt work right now, it says that right next to the download link! Its just filling up this thread with rubbish and making it difficult for those who are working on finding a working crack from doing so. I know myself I've had to go through so many posts, some of them to official patches which BLOCKS the lan play cracks which really isnt helping the effort.

Please read whats already been posted, we dont need four people linking to the same crack, one link will do and everyone give feedback based on that.

For those of you who are taking part in the effort to find a working solution, when posting links to downloads may I recommend attaching them to your posts? We have no problem with them on this site and attachments can be downloaded by guests (non-registered users). That way people dont have to waste time with horrible download sites like megaupload and rapidshare which have limits to non-paying members and are full of horrible adverts and waiting times.

Lets focus on the one important goal, EA released patch v1.1 which "BLOCKED" lan play from being enabled via a crack. Which means it is possible.

The RA3 beta download link I posted at the start is for version v1.0 which is before they blocked lan play cracks. Therefore we must focus on efforts to find a working crack, then we can post a walkthrough for installing and setting up so that everyone, even less-technical people can easily experience RA3 via LAN play.
