Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

so i tried to format the HDD again before i do the partitioning... after i enter my serial num it shows a progress bar that is automatically halfway full, after about five to ten seconds it freezes for a couple seconds then the bar is full but jumps me back to the list of mu's and still says unformatted! i can do it over and over again it will do the same thing but if i shut the xbox off again it formats...seems like every other time it will format...and one more thing after looking at the pictures on this tut hddhackr6.jpg.my hddhackr never even gave the option of partitioning 123 lol

320gb hdd can't boot from laptop

Ok.

I have dled and installed the hddhacker and msdos info as per the beginning of the tutorial. Seemed like everything was going as planned up until I tried to boot from the hd.

I'm running a win7 64bit laptop and haven't been able to find a way to restart/boot from the external hard drive.

Using the cmd prompt I can look at the drive and all of the files that are supposed to be there appear to be on the disk.

I just can't .exe anything or boot from it

Any ideas?

Thanks

the drive you want to hack needs to be connected where your laptop hard drive was.
ms dos is on your flash drive, change the boot device to the flash drive
type hddhackr.exe and it should start

First thanks for trying to help.

I don't follow you.
the drive you want to hack needs to be connected where your laptop hard drive was.

So you are saying I need to pull the HDD out of my laptop and put the new one that's getting formatted to go into the xbox INTO THE LAPTOP?

ms dos is on your flash drive, You are talking about the files I dragged and dropped onto the new 320GB external hard drive right?

change the boot device to the flash drive?

Where do I do that at? Couldn't get a function key to prompt me for a boot location. But I could just be not doing that right either.

type hddhackr.exe and it should start

Although I couldn't get it to boot from the external hdd I was able to go into dos and try to execute the hddhackr.exe file. I got a error message that said basically I couldn't do that from X64 bit operating system.

Thanks again. I really want to get this thing to work, but I'm not to nuts about pulling out my hdd from my laptop. I guess I thought it could be done via a USB port connection

Did you use this program
6b8d816d95fc8cc2b3c45787d1b42aaa.png
for the usb drive & follow these directions.
Select your USB drive
Set the file system as FAT
Tick quick format and Create bootable drive
Select the box with 3 dots and choose the USB Drive Boot Files\MS-DOS folder as the location.
Hit start and you will have a bootable usb drive within a few seconds.

for the boot device go to the bios and change the boot order or if there is a key for boot device use that

i cant quote you because the link you posted makes me a robot^o) but ill have to wait a little longer to run hddhackr since it doesnt open up on my laptop...the program you directed me to it will open the same way as hddhackr on the usb correct?

Use a usb flash drive(any size) and run that program and follow the directions i posted above, then you copy the 320gb or 250gb bin file & hddhackr to your flash drive. For a more detailed explaination read the guide again on the 1st page.

OK now I have the files on a 16g flash drive. All 3 files but not the undo.bin

Can I format the WD hard drive via a usb cable?

The hard drive needs to be connected via sata connection.

So, if I were to pull my hd out of my laptop and install the WD to be formatted for the xbox that would work?

I'm guessing that's the purpose of the flashed usb to restart the computer from the flash drive?

I trying to do this for my grandson so I really appreciate the help
