Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

Ok I did it again...told me:

sectors 16-22 rewritten successfully...and firmware flashed successfully...

now turn off your computer...disconnect the hdd and test it in your xbox 360. all should work fine.

Still got the E69 message when I tested it...

E69: Hard Drive Error - Reading the HD Security sector failed: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive

It could not seated all the way in the connection or when you do the partitions did you restart into windows and restore all the stuff from you old HDD to the new one

do you need another xbox hdd enclosure to transfer the data from the old hd to the new one?

Connect a usb stick to your xbox and transfer all your data to that.
Then just transfer all the data from the usb stick to the new hard drive.

I do it through the PC I use Xplorer 360 that you can download at the start of the guide I had to hook my 20g M$ HDD to the sata on my pc and boot up back up everything turned off my PC unhooked the 20g and Hooked up the 250g HDD and (after you have already done HDDHACKR) boot into windows and use Xplorer 250 and restore the partitions to the new HDD

So, I tried flashing my 320GB Scorpio Blue. Didn't seem to work.
I followed all the steps to the tee but had a similar issue as some other people here.
When hddhackr successfully finished flashing the drive, I never got the option to create partitions. I decided to stick the drive into my xbox to see if it would work. It was not recognized.
I then proceeded to put the drive back into my computer and manually create the partitions using hddhackr. The xbox still didn't recognize the drive.
Tomorrow, I'll try flashing it with another computer I've got downstairs. I'll report back on how that goes.
And just to be more specific. The current motherboard chipset that I tried flashing with was an EVGA X58. The motherboard I'm gonna try using tomorrow is an older Gigabyte running an Athlon 64.

Well, I tried flashing with my other computer and still no go. This time I'm getting an error writing sector 16...

Could the issue be that it has windows 7 on it and it needs to be formatted?

Alot of different drives will work but if you did flash it you won't be able to use more then 250gig because that is all microsoft supports

Thanks that's all I needed to know. I have a spare drive lying around that I don't use so I thought I might as well use it for the Xbox 360 Slim I just picked up. Doesn't really matter to me if it doesn't support 500GB since 250GB is enough.

why do you dump partition 3 content? does that save it to the computers hard drive and can i put the files i dumped on to the flashed hd?

i dumped it and it saved it as hddss and it is 4kb big. when i reconnect my 250gb drive, it doesnt see it in xplorer 360 extreme. when i click drive>open>harddriveormemcard it says "could not find a FATX drive to open" i tried to click restore partiton 2, but it is grey and wont let me click it. What do i do to fix this?

Success!
I used an older version of hddhackr to do the job.
I used this version:
http://www.one-winged-angelz.eu/XBOX360/Apps/HddHackr/HddHackr_v1.25_Build_20101114.rar

Popped the drive into my first computer and followed the steps. This time it DID ask me if I wanted to make the partitions. Took less than 30 seconds to do and works like a charm!

I tried this...and it said "hddss.bin" is not present...I just knew this would work, yet it didn't...any ideas, folks?

Just make sure you do actually have the hddss.bin file on the stick and try the older version of hddhackr I mentioned again. You may have made a typo or some other silly error while going through the steps.

I made sure I renamed the file correctly...still didn't pick up hddss.bin...could I have done something else wrong?
