Hi,

I just purchased a modded xbox 360 on ebay. The seller said it has the LT+ 3.0 mod. I've gotten some xgd3 games running but have one problem: my son wanted the xbox 360 specifically so he could get the skylanders imaginators game. I burned a backup of it successfully, however, the xbox 360 said it needs to be updated.

My concern is that, if I update the xbox 360, it's ability to play burned games won't work anymore.

The OS of the xbox 360 is currently 2.0.16747.0

If I were to update it, would it lose it's ability to play backup games?

If I do update it, would I do it through the xbox 360 or is there some other method I'd have to use? I've read that it can be done with a usb stick--could you give me a link to a good tutorial and where to download the things I will need?

Also, is there a specific OS I would have to update it to?

I've read that if you update a modded 360, you need to 'flash' it again, but the whole reason I got the xbox 360 off ebay was because I think (based on what I've read) flashing an xbox 360 is beyond me. And I don't think I even have the hardware to do it.

So to be totally clear, I can update the xbox by connecting it to my network and updating it as if it were unmodded?

Or should I do it with a usb stick? Could you give me a link to a site that has a tutorial about doing this and where I get the files I need?

I guess what I'm asking is which way to update is the safest?

Sorry I'm an idiot--you actually posted the tutorial on this very thread. I feel stupid.

All I'd like to know is, which way would be safest for me to update? And, as we've established that I'm an idiot already, which way of updating is more 'idiot proof'? Should I just connect the Xbox 360 to my internet network and let the xbox360 update itself or should i use the usb drive to do it?

I don't really care about playing games online (cause I don't want my son to). The only thing I want to make sure of is that, when I've updated this xbox360, my burnt backups will still work.

Again, my current OS is 2.0.16747.0

is the system update file that is linked on the first post the current one I should be using to update?

You can update as per the first post, or simply signing in to Xbox Live will update your console too.

With a flashed console their is always a risk of getting banned from Xbox Live for playing backup games, however as the console is second hand it could already be banned anyway. Its up to you how you update.
 
  • I have a problem with my Fat Xbox 360. The Dashboard version is from 2010, and i can´t update it to the latest version. I have tried to load the Update on an USB Stick and burn it on an CD but both dont work. I get an error.
  • My Currently DashBoard is on the Version "2.0.12416.0"

What error do you get? if the console is flashed and not on LT+3 then you probably need to flash it back to the stock firmware before updating.
 
I think its not Flashed because the guarantee seal was not broken. It has an Samsung Drive.
Ouh and the status code is 3080 4467 1380 2203 C000 0001
 
It could still be flashed, it's pretty easy to remove the seal without breaking it.

The error code you provided seems to suggest the console is flashed with an older firmware from what i can find on Google.
 
I have LT+ 3.0 which I got installed 2 years ago, but last year it stopped reading burnt games, what could be the problem? I am a total noob when it comes down to flashing an xbox. I always gave it to someone so he could do it for me. Wonder why my xbox won't read burnt copies anymore.
