Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

All good untill i connect it to Xbox360

Hi thanks for the Tut, i am however having a problem, the whole flashing process seems to complete perfectly with no issue, restoring parttion 2 completes with no problems.

The issue i am having is;

When I connect the hard drive to the 360 i get "No Storage device detected".
i've restored to the WD firmware and reflashed,
I have followed the tip from an earlier post wthout creating the 0/2/3 partitions.
i get the same response everytime though.

I am lucky enough to have access to 2 new hard drives but get the same response on both,

Am i missing something?

Hard drives are WD 250GB Black Scorpio WD2500BEKT manufactured 29/12/2009.

Any help would be really appreciated as we have 3 Xbox's in the house and upgrading storage capacity on all would be fantastic.

This is just a guess as I don't exactly know. Maybe you should try to start over and put it all back on or maybe a cable in the hard drive is defective. As your hard drive seems to be crashing.

i need a lil help. i get to this part.
Now shutdown windows, disconnect your original 360 drive and connect the hacked 250gb drive.

When windows has loaded up again load Xplorer 360 Extreme again, remembering to run it with administrator rights and select Drive > Restore Partition 2 BUT i can not select Restore drive.

I tried running with/ with out admin rights, dl new program. no matter what i do i still cant select Restore drive.
i am using windows xp hacked drive hooked up to mother board sata.....
any ideas??

With Regards to this post, i have resolved the problem.

Make sure you buy the WD Scorpio Blue drive WD2500BEVT exactly as shown in nutters guide, this will work fine every time, i have now done 3 drives for us all in the house and they worked first time everytime.

I got the drive flashed, and everything working properly. problem is, How do I get all of my content and profiles from my old 20gb to the new 250gb? The tutorial you made is fairly simple, but when I click "dumb" it just takes me to saving some .bin file which is only like 4kb, when i know i have more than that on the drive.

tl;dr how do i copy profiles / saved games from old drive to the new drive?

EDIT: New problem, I guess i corrupted my 250gb, because I plugged it in to see what would happen, and I get up to this Error screen thats black and says "Contact customer support" with E-68 at the bottom.

if I corrupted my drive, how do I fix it?

If you want to backup your profiles, saves, arcade games, demos, dlc and videos you basically want to dump your Partition 3 > Content folder, I had to dump a few folders at the time because Xplorer 360 had random crashes for me.

On your old drive, each of the folders in Partition 3 > Content beginning with E contain your profiles, and any saves associated with them profiles.

Copy them off the old drive, the on to the new one in the same place.

Thanks. Still doesn't explain my E-68 error. did I corrupt the drive? if so, do I just need to go through that process again and it'll be fixed?

and when I get the files to copy, Under partition three and make a content folder and put those under it?

EDIT: Even after re-doing the firmware, I still get the one red-light and the E-68 Code. Should I return the drive and start with another? or did I do something wrong?

that didn't seem to work. I copied the entire content folder to my pc, named the folder "content" and tried to inject it to partition 3 via xbox 360 250gb explorer, it took forever and copied, but the folder isn't showing up under the partition 3 root, and it's not registering on my xbox...although it is reporting there is spaced used

I`ve got exactly the same problem, I`m flashing on Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L motherboard, HDD WD2500BEVT manufactured 15 FEB 2010, the newest Hddhackr. Windows can see HDD as Hitachi, Explorer 360 can see all partitions but xbox can`t see HDD. How to fix this?

Alright, After several frustrations, I decided to try copying the data from harddrives on my newer, better pc. Data copied fine, connection was loose and I fixed that.

Ok fellas, forgive me if this has been brought up but I searched and didn't see anyone mention this:

The original tutorial listed that we could use this mod on WD Raptor drives along with the Scorpios and what not. Has anyone tried this with a Raptor? If it works it means that your effectively doubling the speed of your 360's HDD! going from 54000 rpm's to 10,000 rpms!
Raptors come in a special heatsink that makes them fit in a 3.5 inch bay, are we supposed to be removing the HDD from this heatsink to install it in the 360's HDD bay? Doesn't this create a heat issue? That's the last thing a 360 needs more of is heat...

I modded my 20 GB HDD and installed a 120GB drive, now I'm thinking about going up to 250 GB's but the main reason I'm interested is because i want to make my drive faster, making games load even faster! even if it's only to a 72000 rpm drive it's still a bit faster than the 54000's!
What do you guys know about this, anyone done it or was that first bit just a typo?

I shouldn't have said it in the form of a question i guess, if you put a 10,000 rpm HDD in a xbox 360 I'm almost positive it will cause problems with heat, just think about it, your forced to remove the 10,000rpm drive from a giant heat sink. There's no way it's going to preform exactly the same after taking that away from it. If it could be made to work, i would be all over it though, I know the drives cost 200 bucks but I am just the type of guy that likes to squeeze every last bit of speed and power out of things,... i like to soup-up PCs for fun...

I am pretty excited to just go from a 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm drive, is that what you used was the 7200 rpm drive? I know that that will create more heat then the other drive but i think the heat that will make is manageable as apposed to the 10,000 rpm raptor, besides the 7200 rpm drive doesn't have to be removed from a massive chunk of metal that's there only to cool it off.
Experiences people? I want to know what you used and how it worked out/is working out?

My 120gb WD-BEVS 5400 rpm dirve from over a year ago is still doing great, cleaned it up a week ago and still have 50GB free on it!

Nope i went for a 5200rpm drive, after reading up on if a 7200rpm drive would offer improved loads times and finding most people found the loads times to be exactly the same i decided it wasn't worth an extra £20 just to get the 7200rpm version of the drive.

It was all about the space issue for me, I had been using the 20gb drive since launch day and was sick of deleting stuff every 5 mins. It was also a nice bonus i could finally install all my games and shut the insanely loud DVD drive up, my 360 is practically silent now

Ive seen people just use the wires from inside the 360 hard drive shall and connect a 3.5" 1.5TB drive up to the 360 (jtag hacked consoles only), I guess you could do that with the 10,000rpm drive and keep the drive inside its heatsink... its not going to look great in your front room though.

Sorry i carnt really be of anymore help, give it time and im sure some one else will reply, you carnt be the only person in the world who wanted a 10,000rpm drive.

I upgraded from the 120GB to the 250GB. My original 120GB did not have partition 2. Could i just flash my 120GB again with HDDHackr v1.22 or do i need to use the UNDO.BIN file first to get it back to it's original state? The reason i'm asking is because i have lost my original UNDO.BIN
