Pokemon Aurora Ticket Distribution USA GBA Cartridge Rom Download [USA]

I was searching around a bit to find any definite information, and I'm just going to settle with this, which doesn't show an Aurora Ticket for 2005.
Also here, someone also was confused by Serebii saying there was an Emerald distribution at PRA 2005, but pretty much everywhere else says otherwise.

Oh well. Odd that the US never got to go to Birth Island in Emerald. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they kept the Old Sea Map as a Japanese exlusive.
Luckily all English language distributions aren't restricted by region, so hopefully we get the UK rom one day.

Though, my most hopefuls at the moment are the Mystic Ticket and any US 10 ANIV carts, specifically one that has Celebi. Gaining the ability to once again distribute the only legit Gen III English Celebi would be better than anything we could obtain, in my opinion.

Heh, in my opinion I prefer the tickets in FR/LG anyway, since they are part of the Sevii Islands and they even get added to the Town Map once you visit them with the ticket. That and with the Rainbow Pass and all that that lets you access the other 7 islands. It just feels like it fits better. Visit the ferry and then you can visit the first 7 islands with your Rainbow Pass or you can use either of your other two tickets to visit the last two islands. While in Emerald it just feels out of place.
And then having Deoxys show up as two different forms depending on the version is a nice touch, I could imagine friends with different versions going to the event and catching their Deoxys together, then noticing that they get different forms for each version. It would give them something to talk about, or something, while in Emerald everyone just gets the same thing.

Either way, it would have theoretically been possible to receive the European Aurora Ticket on US Emerald, too. So I guess that's an alternative.

But hey, having the Aurora Ticket distro around makes it legitimately possible to have both the Mysticticket and the Aurora Ticket on your save file, but having the Aurora Ticket Wondercard saved instead of Mysticticket (which otherwise would have replaced the Aurora Ticket WC), which is neat. Lets me use one of the fake Mysticticket Wondercards to get to Navel Rock and then I can replace it with Auroraticket, leaving no traces at all.

I agree, for all the exact same reasons.
And though I prefer it in FRLG, it's just that Emerald is the game I put more hours into than any other Pokemon game, and that's where I first competed my National Dex, minus Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi, and Deoxys. I wanted to access the islands so bad when I was younger, particularly in Emerald because it had the most hidden islands, and that was the game I played the most by far. But I was not informed of the events to obtain them when they happened, though I knew that's how you had to access them. Not like I lived near any of the event locations anyway. Regardless that now I know there was no US Emerald distro for the Aurora Ticket, it'd be nice to finally access it as I had wanted to years ago. Of course now I could just hack it or use the wondercard injector, but back then I had no GBA hacking device.

I also agree. I'd just love to have the Mystic Ticket cart/rom available regardless. I prefer to do most things as legit as possible, and on actual hardware.

Heh yeah. At the time I got my Gameshark, I had both FireRed and Emerald (or maybe I still had LeafGreen at the time), but even then, there were no codes compatible with the Gameshark I had that let you get to the islands for FR/LG. They had warp codes for Emerald, and I think maybe R/S too, don't remember, but it wasn't until a while later that the sites updated with more codes that finally let me do that, heh.
I could go to the islands with Emerald, but was never able to go in FR/LG, so I wanted to get to those islands so bad in those.

TBH I always found it really weird that they had those two islands in Emerald when they already put them in FR/LG.

In a way though, I always felt at least Birth Island fit better in Emerald since Deoxys is a Hoenn pokemon, even if it is part of the Sevii Islands. I always thought Faraway Island should've been in FRLG, for the same reason.
At least Navel Rock fits in FRLG since Johto is a direct neighboring region to Kanto, so it's all in the same general area.

Yeah true, I've thought that too.
To be fair though, they didn't necessarily need to make Birth Island a Sevii Island, could have been something entirely separate. Then Faraway Island could have been something else but still contain Mew, and replace Birth Island as the last Sevii Island.
It would have fit pretty well in Birth Island's spot on the map too tbh, with the Unown nearby since those are relatively mythical. Though I guess they aren't really specifically related to Mew, but IMO they make more sense alongside Mew than they do alongside Deoxys.
But also, having Lugia and Ho-Oh in FR/LG, which also has the legendary beasts roaming, and where you capture the legendary birds, is only fitting. Not just because it's neighboring to Johto (Sevii Islands aren't entirely part of Kanto, anyway.)

I loved Sevii Islands though. Probably my favourite part of FR/LG. I was disappointed they were never brought back for HG/SS. :/
It was just so awesome, playing through the Kanto part of the game which was pretty much identical to the Gen. I originals except in better graphics, and then you beat the E4 and you get to Sevii Islands and it just blows your mind with how different and how new it is.

To be honest, Ho-oh and Lugia shouldn't have been event locked(not counting side games) since they aren't mythicals. Ho-oh was too complicated to get in Colosseum anyway, for a kid for sure. Celebi could've taken their place, or even Jirachi as well.

I loved the Sevii Islands too. One of my favorite parts of Pokemon has been the exploration, and exploring in the Sevii Islands is one of the best places in any game to do so.

Why would you use a fake when you can inject the real deal? Unless you are referring to a fake distribution method.

Now that there's a distro rom available, you can check by yourself that the savedata after receiving the wondercard form the official distro device or injecting it into the save produce the same output (which was kind of the point after all).

I just want these things documented for historical preservation so they last forever. When people hoard rare data, they can and do get lost forever.
Also, everyone should be able to use these things if they want to. I don't see the point in hoarding it among a private few when they are so hard to obtain.

Yes, i agree with you and i appreciate it that you think that way. I like to preserve stuff as well. But i must admit that i sometimes think if i would do the same. Im sure these distribution devices costs a lot of money and sharing it with everyone for free is something that not everyone would do.

The roms being public don't really devalue the physical cart, as there are always people who will still want the original thing, and as long as tools to rewrite these prototype carts are still very obscure.
Nothing is lost by sharing the roms, in my opinion.

Just for information: the distro rom can be hex edited without any need to fix checksums, but the script size is limited to that of the one already there (470 bytes). The rom should be able to transfer 992 bytes for script file, but I don't know enough rom hacking to actually increase the space, as it seems that the rom was compiled with the script in it, thus all that extra space was ommited (but for some reason it sends a full 992 bytes, including the data that follows the script that should be irrelevant, instead of just sending 0x00). This is the same that happens with trash bytes in the 10ANNIV rom: they left them there instead of clearing the unused memory (of course, the end user should never even know what's going on, so why would they even bother?).

As for trying to make it work with emerald, I haven't had luck trying to find what was used for e-Reader Mystery Event game/region identification.

Also, it works with all non-jap games (well, I only actually tested an spanish cart, but should work with all the others too).

There's actually a bit of weirdness in regards to dumping the 10ANNIV and Aurora Ticket from these proto/dev carts. The DS Slot-2 Backup software I use will randomly detect both roms as either 1MB, 16MB, or 32MB. I'm not sure which the correct sizes are. I hadn't even noticed this when I originally uploaded the roms, so the sizes I uploaded were just what I originally dumped. I think this is why the hex looks so weird. Regardless, no matter the size they always function properly with no differences or issues, so it doesn't really matter in the end. We have the roms, and they work. However it'd be nice if we knew the correct original file size.

I think the variants in dump size is since these protocarts' dip switches allows changing file size between 4MB(32Mb), 8MB(64Mb), and 16MB(128Mb), that it may cause confusion to the Slot-2 backup software. Changing the switches does not affect the dump size though. Since the carts' max size is 16MB, that should technically rule out a 32MB rom as a possibility. I know rom content doesn't always reflect rom size, but I figure since these roms barely do anything, that they may be 1MB at default. Idk though, and I ran into a dead end when trying to figure this out a couple weeks ago.

If you compare two dumps of the same cart with the same size, are they identical? I assume the data which exceeds their original size is just garbage from the memory which was in there at the time of dumping and so it should be different between multiple dumps.

Iirc, they were the identical except for size with one of the carts, but the other cart was recognizing different code when comparing different size roms. I can't remember if I compared the same rom with the same size or not.
I'll redump the multiple roms again and compare them as soon as I have the chance, and I'll let you know what happens. I guess I could upload them here for the hell of it if anyone wants to research with them.

Thanks for testing! I thought they would differ more like that. Well at least we know that the 10ANNIV dump is overdumped when it comes to 32 MB.
Is 1MB even a valid size for GBA ROMs? I thought they could only be 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB or 32 MB?
