Much appreciated. I'll report back tomorrow, as I imagine this will work.

    WD5000BPVT work fine
    WD5000BEVS work slow

PS. Hacked with X360USB hacker v0.21

Thanks - just need to check something :-)

Ok firstly thanks for the great guide, it's very much appreciated.

    Just a quick question:

I hacked a BEVT WD 320GB with the 320GB bin file and it's recognised and formatted fine in my new Slim 4GB.

After I performed the flash with hddhackr it did not show the creating partitions info / ask me to partition - it just said (almost immediately) that the drive was flashed, switch off with out reboot etc.

It is working fine in the Xbox slim and is showing (after formatting) as the correct size etc.

Should I take it back out and perform the partioning with hddhackr or am I good ?

Ok so I decided to use hddhackr to create the partitions, just to be safe. It did this successfully and it's still working fine the xbox slim but I noticed that the game I previously installed is still there, is this normal ?

For this WD5000BEVS drive you could undo it using hddhackr, format it as ntfs, run some speed checks and disk checks then re hack it.

maybe when it flashes,it also does the partitioning?

Yeh that's what I was assuming, didn't know if it was different when doing a 320GB from/for the slim.

seems to be working ok though so I'm happy.

I signed up just to say thanks for this post!

Is it different to just attaching an external hard drive to the xbox? That's what I've been doing and it's worked pretty good.

Of course now that I've got the 250 Gb Xbox 360 Slim I don't have to worry about running out of space :-)

That way is connecting via usb & only using 16gb of that hard drive.
This hack lets you use the whole drive & its faster and uses the hard drive port.

Is there any reason after flashing my WD1600BEVT correctly (XBOX reads it fine and everything), that when running things off the drive, such as DLC and games from arcade, that semi-frequent "studders" and very short freezes would happen? It almost as if the game will get "stuck" for a brief moment and then return to normal.

backup your content then format the drive in the xbox so it asks for the xbox 360 serial #

Hmm, this may have helped somewhat, but there's still some studdering. I don't think it's the xbox (tested old 20gb stock hard drive, no like issue), and an old hacked drive I had would do the same thing.

Ran ScanDisk and Seagate HDD diagnostic stuff, all green lights. Undid and rehacked and tried again, still major issues. Maybe it's not meant to be?

Undid, used KillDisc on it, rehacked, downloaded an arcade game, and issues are still abound. Guess I'll just use it for something else and get a used drive, no idea why this is happening.

Big Thanks to OP!! just installed WD 320GB Scorpio Blue into 4GB Slim. Copied games and works perfectly. HDD even has Microsoft logo. Funny the original 4GB internal memory doesn't.
