1.Are you running xplorer 360 as admin?

2.With the drive connected can you go to device manager and see what drives are listed below disk drives?

    1. Admin in Windows, not needed in xp, root in linux

    2. As stated none of these operating systems will detect the drive even in device manager in windows.

did you ever notice the computer install the drive drivers? and when it's connected is the drive on(can you hear it or feel it to see if its working)?

also check your bios with the drive connected what does it show as?

As stated the drive works in the 360 just fine minus partition 2. I loaded some games up to test this out. I just cannot get computers to recognize it. It doesn't matter if you have the drivers or not the computer doesn't register that it is installed. It does not even register an "unknown component". The bios recognizes the hd just like it recognizes my regular hard drive, via the serial number. In my bios you see the serial numbers as recognition when booting. Hddhackr recognizes both drives equally in the standard way as well. My best guess is that it has something to do with turning off AHCI. But I have no real reasoning behind this. With AHCI off my laptop's original drive is still bootable but the 360 drive is not being registered by whatever os I am trying to use. As you can guess I have not tried it with AHCI on because of the problems that would cause. My next attempt tonight involves an external enclosure. On the thread I have seen mixed messages on the effectiveness of this technique. Any other ideas?

Hi im new here and i been reading on how to hack a 320 hdd for the new 360 slim. I have 320gb WD model WD3200BEVT which i both off of amazon...i tried everything the guide said like a bible and still nothing.....this is what i got so far

New hdd, used usb bootable, extracted hddhackr 1.3 and hddss320.bin into the hdd and shut down computer...disconnected all other hdd and drives and left new hdd connected with the sata cable since the external usb enclosure didnt work when booting up.
booted to the hdd typed hddhackr....detected my hdd pressed "f"...typed in hddss.bin and file not found or whatever.... now i disconnect hdd and reconnect everything start up windows....and started to try to manual flash hdd...did that and did the same process...this time i jsut partition the hdd and it worked.....ok now heres the problem...i slid it in the xbox 360 slim and power it up...go to system and check under memory and NOTHING.....it doesnt detect my hdd...by the way the xbox has been updated to this new dashboard thing....can it be that this new update blocked hacked hdd? Your typing in "hddss.bin" when you have said that the security sector is named "HDDSS320.bin", that's why it will not be able to find it.

Either rename it or type in HDDSS320.bin as the name when flashing and you should be good to go.

Just be aware in windows you likely have file extensions for known file types hidden, so be careful you don't rename it to hddss.bin.bin.

Enclosure in fact did not work. It detected the enclosure but not the drive inside. I tried it on three different computers, ASUS, Toshiba, and HP. Of course the operating systems used previously in my posts were tested as well. In fact each time it screwed the drive up and it had to be reflashed and reformated. Yes ACHI was off and drivers for the enclosure were installed. Once I gave up and reformated it for the last time I put it back in the xbox and it worked perfectly again minus the partition 2. If it didn't work perfectly in the xbox or if I could not complete the majority of the tutorial I would think I got a lemon. Ideas? I can't be the only person with this problem.

Will this work with a 1TB Scorpio Blue drive WD10JPVT ?

Its not one of the drive types listed in the OP but it also mentions 130 works on all Scorpio Blue drives.

Is it possible to extract the undo.bin before flashing?

I had been using the 1TB drive elsewhere but have another non WD drive I can swap in there and use the 1TB in the 360 as a 320.

    Question about the emulator

Hi. I recently purchased a WD Scorpio Blue 320GB hard drive, and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. I figured I would brush up on the hack and find out what the basic steps are. I noticed that there is talk about backing up the Xbox emulator. I'm curious if I need to have an emulator already, or if this will also install it from scratch? If I don't do the hacked emulator install, can I just opt to install it directly from Microsoft once I install my hacked hard drive into my Xbox?

Thank you for your help, and thanks for this hack. It's going to save me quite a bit of money.

you can download it,look in the guide

using a drive in a different computer wouldn't mess up the drive, the enclosure should work after you run hddhackr.the drive will not show under my computer after being hacked, only xplorer 360

This tutorial shows how to exract undo.bin using windows, but hddhackr does the same thing.

    Flashing a 120GB Drive - Problems

    NEED HELP..

I followed the instructions to the letter with the latest HDDHACKR 1.3 using a WD Scorpio Blue 120GB Hard Drive and the 120GB Bin. Process seemed to go smooth as silk. When I put the drive in my 360 Slim it recognizes the drive but only reports it as 128MB... I have undone and reflashed 3 times now with same results.

Any ideas why it does not see the 120GB ??

Did you format in the xbox 360 so it asks for the serial number of the console?

I was never asked to format the drive in 360. Once installed and 360 Slim booted it saw the drive with 128MB capacity. It did not see it as unformatted.

    WD3200BEVT Verified Drive

Just wanted to verify that the Western Digital Scorpio Blue drive model WD3200BEVT manufactured 28 Sept 2011 worked fine with hddhackr and the 320GB security partition image/firmware.

    Used program without issue.

    My only notes:
    • Don't forget to turn ACHI back on after you are done, or your PC may not boot (mine got the blue screen of death while booting)
    • After the firmware is flashed, reboot back onto the USB drive and then set up the partitions, just to be safe.
    • There is no confirmation that the partitions have been created - program just sits there when done.
    Thanks for this great software!

If your on the latest dashboard do this settings>system>storage>hard drive>press "Y">Format

That should format the drive and appear around 100gb.
