Did you get the message "Warning: LBA size seems to be an unsupported. Please contact the authors!"? If so, did you just ignore it?

Delete all partitions & create 1 ntfs partition using windows for the drive you want to hack then try hddhackr again. does the error message still appear?
 
LBA not supported size warning may not matter.

But searching this thread some more shows that the error can be safely ignored as long as you remember to set SATA Controller mode to IDE/Legacy/Compatible mode.
 
at rick550: I've tried Hddhacker on my friend's PC and it worked flawlessly just like you suggested. My 2.5" WD 250Gb Hdd was recognised and flashed successfully... Thank God I was able to replace my 360's original 20Gb with this one. Also kept its Undo.bin files in a safe place...

Q: My 360's old Harddrive which I've just taken out of the 360's Hdd case is a Fujistsu 20Gb. This Hdd's 20Gb space will be handy for me so I want to use it as a normal external Hdd to keep my important files and random stuff in it.
Should I use Windows XP's Disk Management to convert/format the drive for Windows use OR there's some other method for it since it's the Xbox 360's drive? It won't need an Undo.bin file during formatting, will it? Do I have to Restore it through Hddhacker or what?

First off, thanks for posting this tut and helping people like myself.

I tried looking to see if any one else was having the same problem to keep from posting the same question, but I haven't seen a post yet. Anyway, I get through the steps fine up until the part of flashing the drive. I get a message saying "Western Digital Vendor Intro failed on port 0x8440" I try resending the command, but it just sits there. I don't have another laptop around to use, and I'm sure my friends would be a little scared to let me do what I gotta do. I do have a PC if anyone thinks I should just try with one, however I am not to informed on how to work with computers so please bear with me.

A quick comment- I feel like that message implies that my hdd is bad, but I am hoping for good news... let me know.
 
You would probably have more luck with the PC, the hard drive is likely good, it just depends if the SATA chipset is compatible.

Also did you disable ACHI in the Bios?
 
My Bios are a bit limited. I don't see where I can disable ACHI or not.
I'm going to tackle it using the pc. If you have any advice may I please hear them?
 
Use your PC, the bios will hopefully be less restrictive.

I believe that is your problem anyway.
 
You were correct. I was able to finally finish with a production of 293 gigs. Thanks for your help and amazing tutorial!

I know I have hte HDDSS.BIN file for the 320GB drive. The sizes from the HDD and the HDDSS.BIN file for the LBA seem to match. I'm not sure why this Warning message is displaying.

Any ideas?

I bought a WD Scorpio Blue WD3200BPVT and I am getting the same error. I set the BIOS to ATA (previously ACHI) and booted from USB. Used HDDHACKR 1.3 and the 320GB HDDSS.BIN file (both downloaded from links on the tutorial).

I wasn't able to find a definitive answer about ignoring the error, but eventually did. The program finished without asking me to create partition 0/2/3. It just said to power off my computer and put the drive in the XBOX. I didn't try it in the XBOX. I restored from the UNDO.BIN instead.

Any advice? I can't seem to find any answers regarding this problem.

I need a little help-

I tried the above on an Official 250gb Slim Harddrive as someone had delete the files via a computer and it no longer showed up on the 360. I got an error saying 'Western Digital Vendor failed on port 0xE800' or somthing alike.

This says to me that its not a WD harddrive under the cover, i checked via PC and its a Seagate according to the Serial ST3250XXXX.....

Any ideas?
 
If your drive is a official Microsoft drive it will not work for this.
To check,open the case and see if you have a western digital or other brand hard drive.
 
Looks like as of today 250 GB WD drive is now $99 on new egg :( At the same time official ms drive is $75 on Amazon... Just saying :)

That's to do with the flooding in Thailand, it has massively affected hard drive production. In turn prices have more than tripled for hard drives now because there is a massive shortage.

Thanks for the help Rick, but here's what I had to do to get it to work.

To others with a WD3200BEVT, or having similar problems as shown in my previous post.

1. When running hddhackr, ignore the error "Warning: LBA size seems to be an unsupported XBOX360 value. Please contact the authors!" I assume this is due to 1.3 being released before MS actually starting using a 320GB, so just an "Officially Supported" Xbox warning. I assume you get this if you try any drive over 250GB?

2. Hddhackr may finish without asking you to create partition 0/2/3. Contrary to rick550's advice, it did not automatically create them in my case. When I ran Xplore360 Extreme, I was told "could not find a fatx drive to open". So, I ran hddhackr again and created the partitions. A progress bar went across the screen when creating the partitions, and then hddhackr hung. Power off at that point.

3. Run Xplore360 Extreme as indicated in the tutorial. In my case, Xplore360 Extreme crashed immediately after restoring the partition. Naturally, Windows wanted to find and report the problem. I clicked "close/cancel" and powered off my computer.

I did not have any partition 3 info to restore, so I skipped that part and installed the drive in my Xbox360 4GB system. I powered up and checked the memory settings and the drive appeared as expected, but with no "saved" partition 3 data. I think it showed 293GB. I did not reformat the drive as some have suggested or needed to. I have not attempted to save anything to the drive as this is a Christmas present, so I just packed it away again.

I will post a follow up after Christmas if any issues arise.

You cant use the xplorer 360 for 320gb drives for partition 3 file copying. You use xplorer 360 320gb edition.
