Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

rick550! Thanks for the Info.
I did followed the steps. When i have select to format the HDD on Xbox console, prompted me to enter console serial number.
Is this normal??? i mean ok to give serial number.
why the xbox is asking for HDD to give serial number of console.

That's normal & its a security feature so you don't accidentally format your hard drive if its filled with your dlc, gamesaves & profiles.

I realize I am new, but I searched this thread before posting.

I somehow corrupted my official 250gb harddrive while transferring over data from another drive. I decided to format it, but it kept wanting to be formatted. So I decided to follow the tutorial on the first post. Since my hdd is an hitachi and not a wd, the hddss.bin will not work for me. I was wondering if anyone could post the official one, or point me in the right direction.

thanks

Do not work !!! 250gb

HEY SO YOU ALL KNOW MY 250GB DRIVE DO NOT WORK !! I US THE HDDSS.BIN FOR FOR THE 250GB AND IT SAY ( file hddss.bin is not present ) SO IF SOME ONE CAN HELP ME !! TY

quick question i have a WD7500BPVT can i format it using the 320 gb file and make it work in my 360 slim? sorry for a noob question but this seems to be the best place to ask.

Great guide. I have the 4gb Xbox slim, and am considering upgrading the HD. There are lots of options for the recommended hard drive lines. Do I need a laptop sized hard drive (2.5 inch) or regular sized (3.5 inch)? Also, what connection does it need to have, is SATA 3 compatible?

From my understanding, this method will only work with the mentioned hard drives of 320GB or less, and will not work with solid state drives. Is that right?

Thanks!

Q&A

So i went on newegg to buy a WD harddrive 320gb BEVT i believe...its refurbished so hopefully thats not the problem! Anyways i followed all the steps but ran into a problem, my laptop wouldn't run HDDHACKR so i use my desktop...Worked like a charm. I took the HD and inserted it into my 4gb Slim and waaaala it was there so i did the "insert serial number RAWR" and there i had 293gb of free space....i turned my xbox off when i went to work but to my demise when i turned it back on it was unformatted...along with all my saves and dlc and updates and profile:'( lol... Any idea guys as to why the HD wont stay formatted?

first thing I'd do is take the drive out and plug it into the xbox via USB to see if it is just reading it wrong. and depending on whether or not the information is still there I would reformat it and see if I could still make it work. but if I couldn't then I would probably just exchange it for another... hope that helps :/ I'm not as into technology as a lot of people here but I do what I can, when I can.
