Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

please help
Usually the original drives for xbox 360 can't be fixed.
You can try this. I'm not sure if it would work.
You can have a look at Harcrofts tutorial on How to Flash Your HDDSS.bin in Windows. Read the tutorial very carefully and do so at your own risk.

I srsly need some help here:

Used a WD3200BEKT 320GB - xbox360 slim

First off: when i use hddhackr (no matter if i use v1.3 or v1.4)
it doesnt automatically flash AND create partitions.

First i have to flash and then i have to create the partitions.

Result: xbox says: capacity: 294GB and free space: 129GB

please help me to fix this!

If you haven't transferred anything you will need to format it.
With the drive connected to the xbox follow these instructions.
To format a storage device
  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Select the storage device that you want to format, and then press Y on your controller.
  4. Select Format. You will see the following message:
This will delete all content on this device. Do you wish to continue?

  5. Select Yes to format the storage device.
  6. If you are asked to enter your console serial number, do so, and then select Done. This step helps to guard against accidental formatting.
The console serial number is located on the back of the console and behind the oval door on the front of the console.

If you haven't transferred anything you will need to format it.
With the drive connected to the xbox follow these instructions.

I already tried it. The progressbar is at 50% all the time and after 20-30 minutes I turned off the xbox. Shall I wait much longer? It seems so stucked :/

Thank you! Everything worked fine ;)

Hello,
I followed the guide to flash my Hitachi 320gb drive with HexWorkshop, and then I sucessfully partitioned using hddhackr, but my xbox still does not recognize that there is a hard drive there. Is my drive simply incompatible? I'm pretty confident that I did everything correct with HexWorkshop, as the LBA size was what it should be just before the partitioning. Any tips?

Also: Xport360 now recognizes it as an xbox drive, while before the hex edit and partition it did not recognize it. This means that I have successfully done the security sector?

You can try to use this program to recover your undo file.

Hi everyone, I just registered so I could post here. I followed the tutorial with a BEKT Scorpio Black 250 with no issues. I put the drive in my xbox 360 with no internet connection, formatted it, and it showed up great. I shut off the console, reconnected everything with Ethernet connected and immediately got a mandatory system update notification. That scarred the hell out of me, so I rejected the update by selecting "no". Then I reconnected my legit drive and the update notification went away. This couldn't have been a coincidence, right? The update had to have been related to the hacked drive. Has anyone else had this experience? I've done a lot of searching on this procedure and everyone seems to think that MS either can't detect it, or they can but don't do anything about it. I don't want a console ban, XBL ban etc. I know, I know, if I don't want a potential ban, don't hack or modify the console/peripherals, but it's really more about curiosity at this point. Has anyone here been banned, or gotten a system update after they installed the hacked drive? Thanks!

I'm on the beta dashboard and it works fine. The update will be installed on the hacked drive and it will function like normal.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply Rick! The strange thing is, I didn’t sign up for the beta this year. That’s why I thought something sneaky might be afoot. I did however, sign up the previous two years. I’m going to swap the hacked drive in and see if it happens again. I can’t find an instance anywhere on the internet of anyone else getting an update after installing the hacked drive, or getting banned. I guess I’m special :). Or paranoid :S.

When I hacked my drive some years ago it prompted for an update. Microsoft doesn't ban for these drives.

Yep, you're being over paranoid, I understand the concern though.
i played for 2 years on a hacked drive, even formatted and re-hacked it once the 320Gb file came out in September 2011. You are fine, M$ has bigger fish to fry than a guy with a big hard drive. I ran all the updates and Beta metro.

Guys, ive got an ps3 and a xbox360, im gonna buy a 1tb hd or 750gb for my ps3 and im gonna try to use the one on ps3 at the xbox360(its a 320gb one).

The big question is, it must be a western digital? because ive saw plenty xbox 360 slim comming with samsung or hitachi drivers.

And my ps3 was an hitachi travelstar z5k320, i want to know if i can make this work, if i must install any .bin from any of the files(one of the 320gb at this post on slim) or something like that.
Anyone did something like that?

The hitachi specific info:

Indeed, been using my hacked drive almost 4 years now. No problems what so ever.

Yes it must be western digital as that is the only brand of hard drive Hddhackr supports.

hm,thanks for your answer.

A friend said he just put an hd he had, he ven used hddhacker he just put the hd in, got the system on a pendrive and then the xbox said that was no system there and he simply installed the system from pendrive without using hddhacker, is that possible?

Hello:) I bought WD 250GB BPVT.

I had 2 problems..

1. No ATA Device found:
Fix: Just go where it says ( BIOS ) SATA Options and look for IDE-> AHCI and enable NATIVE IDE.
2. HDDSS.BIN not found:
Fix: When the tutorial says to rename "HDDSS_250GB.BIN or HDDSS_320GB.BIN" just write HDDSS , because if you write HDDSS.BIN , Windows will add automatically .BIN so the result is HDDSS.BIN.BIN = By Windows.

Good Luck Guys :)

Hope I'll help someone:D It's really quick to mod, less than 5 minutes.
