I'm trying to add a hard drive to a 4 GB xbox slim. Using a WD3200BPVT, motherboard is intel DX58SO
I'm not getting anything happening when I type hddhackr. I changed the bios setting to ide, then tried legacy.
I boot from the flash drive and try to start hddhackr and nothing happens at all, after a few minutes I manually restart the computer.
Is this what happens when the sata is incompatible? Is there a list of motherboards that do not work somewhere?

I see one intel board on that thread, guess I'll have to try on my sister's dell laptop tomorrow. Part of my question was is that the normal failure mode? where the hddhackr program does nothing at all.

I have followed the tutorial up till it says : Do you want to flash XBOX360 compatible firmware (y/n) ? I click y for yes then it says >western ditigital vendor intro failed on port 0x01f0
I saw somone say somewhere that if this happends remove the harddrive then put it back in .
This seems to move me on a step as then it says in green; Sectors 16-22 written successfully
Then seconds later in RED it says Cant save drive firmware for later restore! drq Error :0x0815 .... This is where im stuck .
Any help is much appreciated .

I had one of those additional HD you can buy from microsoft which come in the shell for xbox360. I accidentally formatted it when I connected it to the front of the xbox. Now i tried using hddhackr v 1.3 to flash the 320BIN file on to the HD. I was able to do everything but then it said "Can't save drive firmware for later restore! DRQ error: 0x0815". My guess is because i am using a 320GB bin file meant for WD HD's but the HD that was inside the shell was a hitachi one. Is there a firmware for hitachi drives or do i have to buy a WD drive?

I am running hddhackr off of a sanisk cruzer micro USB with 4GB capacity which I believe is fat32. The Hitachi HD is also functioning because if i plug it into a HD it recognizes it as a 320gb HD with FAT32 format.

Updated the first post to include a download for HddHackr 1.40:

    * Updated SATA and PATA controller list
    * Added support for 320GB and 500GB hard drives (HDDSS.BIN required)
    * Added support to adjust Idle Timer (IntelliPark)
    * Confirmed HddHacker supports hard drives manufactured till 2013

If anyone is having problems still be sure to try the latest version.

    Download HddHackr v1.40 Build 20130303

You can look through these. If you can't find the exact file, you can use a recovery software like recuva to try to recover the file. Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download
