The "image 2" refers to when I created partitions 1,2 and 3. The original .bin is intact, but I can't restore the original .bin, the size error (image 1) appears.
Can I use this tutorial to write the original .bin file back to hd or you do not recommend?

I'm starting to do it. will i be able to go back to windows on this drive which is waiting to be flashed?
It is in a laptop, with hddhackr running...

update:
It works fine. Only 460Gig instead of 465 as formatted with usb on 360 slim. but thanks a lot! Now it says it have a Hitachi HDD.

Now i'm going to find how can i install the xkey, and put the 1TB HGST drive onto it.
going to have a lot of space on that little guy.
I was so proud, and posted it out in reddit x360 subreddit.
A few hours later found myself kicked out for good from that basket.
Damn...
Anyways. F*ck it. I'll have 1.5TB of storage almost 1/4 price. Worth it.

Samething happened to me. Im trying to restore to the wd500lplx firmware but it gives me an error, it says that the Undo bin file has a wrong size!!
Did you solve your issue?

No it will not work with an SSD unfortunately.
So, do you know if there is a way to use a SSD in xbox 360 or we just have tu use HHD only?

Connect one in a caddy via USB. However the Xbox 360 is only USB 2.0 so i don't really think you will notice much difference.

So I've run into a problem, a big problem that I don't see listed anywhere on the net. I purchased a WD 500gb BPVT. Thoroughly tested it, passed with no problems. Hacked it to work in the xbox360 no problems. Put it in and transfered alll my games to it (250gb) without issue (other than it took forever and I had to watch it the whole time to keep it from auto shutdown while transferring... ugh). Browsed around and played some xbox 360 games no problem. Drive working perfect and quiet whole time. HOWEVER...
Currently I am playing Morrowind (original xbox game) and I am playing it off the disc. When I play this game the hard drive makes a bad CLINK noise every few minutes and its enough to drive you crazy. (!!)
Okay so I reflashed the undo.bin have had it plugged in for hours now and it has not CLINKed even once.
Does anyone know WTF is going on, obviously the drive is malfunctioning but only when xbox original game is played off disk, what is happening perhaps firmware isn't 100%, perhaps drive trying to enter standby and malfunctioning? , etc. To my knowledge the hard disk isn't even being used at all except to save for this game.
Now if I get another one of these drives and try again is it just going to do the same thing??? I have many xbox original games and this is a major problem for me.

It seems to me that clearly this xbox360 500gb firmware needs some kind of fix and is not working properly with OG xbox games. Super angry I wasted so much time on this. On top of that I insulted the seller of this drive and called it defective crap. LOL please help with solution to this, thanks!!

Restore the drive to normal and try using this tool on it from DOS: Wdidle3 1.05.
You should be able to disable the drive putting the heads in the parked position, after that hack the drive again and see if the issue persists. I've used that tool on a few drives in the past.

uh oh.
wdidle3 /d, disabled timer.
then hddhackr, etc.
now seems may have bricked the drive.
xbox 360 won't recognize it now,
crashes my desktop when plugged into pc
how to undo.bin now?
will try some stuff... cross fingers

ran hddhackr and flashed firmware, seemed to work
turn off desktop computer
hooked up to laptop via transfer cable and create partitions, installed xbox emu to partition 2

desktop wont boot
....
finally get desktop to boot through luck and bios fiddling
restore undo.bin to drive
reboot
drive completely bricked and lost all firmware and even serial number
can no longer flash it

i believe the drive was bricked after flashing hddhackr firmware with the altered wdidle settings

That's what happened to me. I believe that's why the newer LPLX drives won't work. They won't take the serial number from the flash.

I have learned some things, Nutter was correct, apologies Nutter,
so the noise was most likely from the head parking.
So WD drives feature intellipark which parks the drives every 8 seconds of inactivity!
which is totally stupid and creates shortened lifespan of the drive and is highly noisy.
here is also a thread about head parking behavior of WD: https://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63051
have recieved advice from an expert,
that HDDhackr latest release includes the ability to change intellipark timer.
So check the HDDHACKR readme! on how to do this
so disable it or set it to a long value.
or there are other utilities
think, that my drive bricked likely due to accidental plug in of a faulty drive first,
or could have been something as dumb as a loose cable.
if this happens to you try using the brute force flash instructions in the HDDHackr readme.
hope this helps someone

If the drive is not listed in the list chances are it won't work, you'd be wise to purchase a drive on the compatibility list.
I decided not to experiment and bought a disc from the list of supported WD3200BEKT-75PVMT0
with the Wdidle3 I set the parking for 300 seconds, and successfully flashed it according to the instructions from the header. Everything worked great, thank you for the tutorial.
I have a question, any advantages of an increased cache of 16 MB compared to 8 MB original disks, and 7200 rotation against 5400 rpm, which revision of SATA in xbox360 uses? (SATA I/SATA II)
