I have a PSP 1001 I pulled out of storage and am looking to do a little more with it than what comes standard on Sony's system. After reading up on CFW 6.60, I think I'd like to give it a try. I'm curious though: is it easy to reset your PSP to factory/standard settings after installing CFW? Are there any steps you should take to back up information prior to installing CFW? Are there any good reset guides out there?
 
You can just install the original 6.60 firmware if you dont want custom firmware. However i honestly cant see why you would go back, you gain nothing by doing so. As for backing up, all your data is on the memory stick so you can just take a copy and keep it on the PC.

Thank you, Nutter. Is Pro-C2 the latest version for the custom firmware (the one you have linked at the beginning of the thread)? Or is there an updated version we should be using now?

Do you have any recommend resources people should read for understanding more about CFW Pro, customization, plugins, etc.?
 
The latest version is linked to in the first post. I don't really have any links or resources for the PSP, my PSP gets very little use these days.

I am planning to find the most up to date versions of all the most popular emulators and apps to post here when i get chance.

Thanks again! I'm firing up the old PSPto have something quick and easy to access for gaming since I'm probably going to have little opportunity to sit down in front of my PC and definitely not going to be able to use my PS console. I'll be interested to see what you have as far as suggestions on the emulators and other add-ons.
 
By the way InsaneNutter! I'm curious if you will be able to go log in with your PSN account and play online or shop for items without being detected by Sony that your PSP is a hack? Thanks in advance!
 
Yes i could still go on the PSN the last time i used my PSP, of course with hacking anything theirs always a risk Sony could ban you or block you from connecting at some point in the future.
 
I have a PSP 1001 with an 81 MoBO, so I'm pretty sure I can permanently flash my system. Is there any downside to permanently flashing the system as opposed to just doing the Flash Recovery every time? Or any reason you might prefer to do the Flash Recovery? Just curious.

I can't think of any downside, the plus is you do not have to run the fast recovery when the PSP has been totally powered off.
 
I just got done updating my psp to 6.60 Pro C2 After following the steps I had to change my version from 9.90 to 5.50 then after I installed the official firmware my psp restarted then it just sat there trying to load, I took my memory card out and turned it off then restarted it, it loaded to xmb after putting my memory card back in I installed CFW my psp restarted by automatically same thing just sat there trying to load, after some research it was suggested to format flash1 ( turn psp off hold triangle square select start all at once turn psp back on) it did it again * I thought I semi bricked it * so I plugged the charger in left it be came back and it was loaded finally. Afterwards I did a fast recovery then did a permanent install works great now My psp is a slim 2000 version 1.1 85 v2 which means I can permanently install CFW but can not make a pandora battery so if anyone is having the same problem i did let it sit for awhile then come back to it. I also read that 6.60 is known to have installation problems and Sony isn't interested in fixing it. TO FIX THE LOADING ISSUE SIMPLY OPEN THE UMD DRIVE THEN CLOSE IT For some reason the firmware has a built in auto UMD in it and its trying to load even if you turn off the UMD settings lots of research and countless forums someone has the same problem

Thanks for reply. I've got one more question. Can I delete PROUPDATE and CIPL_Flasher folders from my PSP? Do I need only FastRecovery folder (after I made PROUPDATE of course)?
 
Hey so after i did every thing, if i want a game, i can just put the ISO/CSO in the iso folder? and thats it?
 
hi i got a psp phat 1003 running 6.60 me 2.2 and it wont boot my csocan any one help please
