Red Alert 3 BETA [Download, Keys and Information]

Anyway, would you get any use out of my third, unused code?

That's awesome, and definitely useful; I think someone should use it to monitor changes during an actual activation, as per my suggestion above. But I'm not sure who should do the honors. Perhaps someone with the most cracking experience here?

Hey I've been lurking in this thread since page one, and I think I can be able to give it a try and make a reg crack.

I think I could do it too, but:

a) There might be file changes too, not just registry, and
b) It might be wiser to hand this over to someone with a lot of experience, might even be best to try contacting an one of those cracking groups to handle it, since there's only one shot to get it right.

Is it possible to install and activate RA3 in virtual PC and share the virtual PC hard disk? We can get the exact same environment using the same virtual pc disk.

Another, a virtual pc may help you compare what changed after activating RA3, it can be easily restored to the point you saved.

This combined with Orion's spare key sounds like the best option to me.
Why ? Well, after you have activated the game on the virtual disk, you can upload it and send it to other members which can try to crack the game and see the difference with a registered and non registered game just from 1 key code.

I suggest using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 for this, as I have good experience with it and it's free.

Ok, well, ive just discovered my dad wants the third key, but is it still possible for him to use it even after you have done your stuff with it?

Or does someone want to do remote assistance with the file sniffer thing on his PC so i can still do it on his PC?

And i still need you to nominate someone :P

actually as long as the key is not installed on more than maybe 2 or 3 pcs, you should still be able to use it normally, the problem is whether the person given this key will respect that or just abuse the key.... we had 3 people who had been trying to do the same thing, 1 person had a key and he shared it with the other 2 (through registry files) so that they could try to see what could have changed.. ofcourse he had already registered so they couldnt do the check on the time the game is authinticated. i dont know what these 3 people have done so far but seeing as we heard nothing i assume they didnt manage anything.

anyway for giving your key to someone to test this, that person would have to be sure that his tools will record the data, as some sniffing programs might not get the data needed.

Well nominating someone that can do this won't be easy, since everyone that had any idea what they were doing was driven away from this thread by the enormous amount of spam...
I'd suggest trying to contact FandomofHell or psychophat since they have made some progress in this direction.

EDIT : Exactly the people Wohhai mentioned.

How about just aquiring the key from fileplanet?
It would cost 6,95/key

Heh, look at the small print when registering "Subscription does not guarantee participation".
In other words: Signing up at fileplant is no guarantee for getting a beta key |-)

Quite right. Not even most users will be getting them. It's a weekly drawing, they give out a few each week. See here for details (although I pretty much just told you everything).

Yeah, as I said before: Install the game with a working real legit official key on a Virtual PC with a Virtual Disk so that you can spread out the virtual disk to everyone so that everyone can use it, via LAN with Hamachi and the unlocker, and view the changes to paul.dll etc

I think an effort should probably also be made to sniff whatever data packets get exchanged. That's not something you can get from a copy of the virtual disk. Although at this point I'd take what I could get, what with the quick degradation of this thread.

Right now im liking this idea best for using a legit key. I'd rather have a copy of a working copy than just some generated code sniffed from ea servers.

I was thinking more in terms of using the activation to figure out a cracking scheme, with the virtual disk distribution being a means of collaboration. I think a crack could reasonably be produced by simply comparing a pre-activation disk with a post-activation disk.

Problem though: Either way, if we distribute copies of the software activated with Orion's spare key, that would mean we'd have to trust everyone who got their hands on it to not try signing in to EA's servers with it. Not really feasible if you ask me.

getting the game that has been installed and authinticated on a pc means you also need to get all the registries for it to work.. now the question is whether the game would check the ip of the pc on launch or not, if it does, then it wouldnt take long b4 ea realizes that someone shared their copy online and thus a ban to the key... now assuming that the game does nothing as such, you would probably atleast need to make sure that people who use that wont try to go online...., and if removing the key from the registries is possible without the game stopping to work when on another pc, then that should be done...
---------------------

is there a way of limiting the game's network access to a single network connection to prevent it from actually connecting to any net other than hamachi?

banning the key wont help EA if we got the right registry files to activate the game. If we found a way to skip the activation, by taking "activated" registry and game files, we wouldn't need to connect to EA's servers to start the game. But what i think the game really needs is a proper crack. The cnc3game.dat from C&C: TW is almost the same as ra3game.dat. Maybe someone with some cracking experience can try and crack ra3game.dat, using the cracked cnc3game.dat.

I believe it's already been established earlier in this thread that the game doesn't need to connect anywhere on bootup, except during the initial activation.

We can get the required files and registry data by monitoring the activation; the problem is, said data will have been generated via Orion's legit key, and if distributed, people are bound to use it to connect to EA's online multiplayer servers, which will get the key banned, rendering our files etc useless.
----
Edit: Correction, our copies would still be usable for booting up the game even if the key is banned. But still, Orion would understandably like to keep his key intact.

you can change the key in the registry after activation. This will enable us to play the game LAN using hamachi. If you distributed the file with a changed key, nobody can go online with it.
