Hey,

I'm having trouble pretty early on. I don't seem to be able to find any place in my BIOS to alter the SATA operation mode. I can't change the AHCI or Enhanced/Legacy options. I am currently running American Megatrends Inc. (AMI BIOS) v207, release date 11/17/2006. I'm running Windows XP on an ASUS F3JM. Is there any way I can update my BIOS to allow me to change it? I have looked at the Asus support site, but the version I'm running of the BIOS seems to be the most up to date.

I don't really know much about BIOS and such, what I've read has told me to stay away from it because it's full of dragons.
But any help would be great.
Thanks.

Can someone please help me, I can i use this method for a genuine xbox 360 120gb hdd.
Basically i got sent a used 120gb genuine xbox 360 Hardrive, I hooked it up to my xbox via transfer cable so i could transfer stuff from my 20gb hdd to the new 120gb hdd. When i turned on my xbox a screen was suppost to pop up asking if i want to transfer it accross. that did not happen so i went on the memory tab, It said i needed to configure the 120gb hdd to work on the xbox, After doing the it has not only made one partition in FAT32, and the xbox does not detect it anymore a Xbox HDD but just a USB device.

Can anyone please help me convert it back to FATx and fix this annoying problem.
My aim is: xxCoLLaTeRaLx

Any help would be majorly appreciated :]

GREAT guide InsaneNutter! Before I do this I want to make sure I have the steps right, because I don't want to lose my save games, etc..

I currently have a 120GB HDD that I want to upgrade to a 250GB. Will these steps work 100% for me?

1. Create bootable USB and flash my 250 WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT HDD using HDDHackr.
2. Put the newly flashed HDD in my Xbox 360 and put a new game in to update the dashboard (Black Ops should do the trick).
3. Restore my gamertag?? (or do I do this before #2?)
4. Use my Microsoft data transfer cable to move my data from my old HDD to my new 250GB HDD. (will this also transfer the Xbox 1 emulator (partition 2)?
5. Everything should be just like before, but with a lot more free HDD space.

Will these steps work 100% for me? Am I missing anything? At what point can I connect to LIVE again?

Thanks!!

Thanks rick550!
I'm not sure I understand enough to go through with it yet...

1. Create bootable USB and flash my 250 WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT HDD using HDDHackr. (OK!)

4. Use my Microsoft data transfer cable to move my data from my old HDD to my new 250GB HDD. (It will not transfer partition 2....do this before step 2)(when using transfer cable do not configure or format any drive because it will corrupt it) <--- what do you mean by this? I can't format it before the transfer? Also, I forgot to mention I am transferring my stuff from my Elite 120 HDD and putting it on a new 250GB HDD for my 4GB Slim (switching Xbox), so it needs to be in the new Xbox to transfer *one end goes to the old HDD and the other in the Xbox Slim's USB.

2. Put the newly flashed HDD in my Xbox 360 and format in memory tab. (Do I still do this after the transfer??)

3. Restore my gamertag When you hit recover tag it should update. (You said I could connect to LIVE AFTER step 3, but don't I need to be on LIVE to recover my gamertag?)

If you can clear this up I would really appreciate it, and thanks again!

@Nilok
you must connect the hard drive to the computer after #1 for the xbox emulator (partition 2)

side note:**DO NOT configure(option in memory if it comes up as usb drive) a drive using a transfer cable or it will mess up the hard drive.**
you do #2 then you transfer content
3.it really doesn't matter but it should update when you click on recover or if you transfer content it will also update when you sign in

OK, does this look any better?

1. Create bootable USB and flash my 250 WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT HDD using HDDHackr.

2. **Optional** Connect HDD to computer to transfer partition #2.

3. Put the newly flashed HDD in my Xbox 360 Slim and format in memory tab. (I know you said not to configure the HDD if I'll be using the transfer cable, but can I\should I format it on the slim before I transfer my data?) (Would it be better to just transfer my data using a USB stick?)

4. Restore my gamertag and update the dashboard.

5. Use my Microsoft data transfer cable to move my data from my old HDD to my new 250GB HDD.

i think its better to format before you transfer, format the drive and it will ask for serial number(you can find this on the back of the slim console or in the info section on the xbox360)

Alright, so it is OK to format it before I transfer my files without corrupting the new HDD? So these steps should work 100% for me then?

4. Connect to the internet and restore my gamertag and update the dashboard.

5. Use my Microsoft data transfer cable to move my data from my old HDD to my new 250GB HDD.

This might be a dumb question, but what cable(S) do I need to connect the bare hard drive to my laptop?

Thanks for the guide btw, it's very helpful.

If your laptop drive is sata you won't need any cables.Remove your current hard drive and replace it with the one you want to flash.To know this,compare the connections on the drives.

Thanks rick, I got hddhackr to format the drive to work in my slim.

I'm stuck again though. I can't figure out how to get the xbox 1 emulator onto my new 250gb hard drive that's in my new 360 slim from my old xbox 360 60gb hard drive. I could probably use the transfer cable to put the files on the old hard drive onto my pc, but then how would I get them onto the new hard drive in my slim? The transfer cable can't plug into the slim and the pc at the same time, can it?. Does anyone know what I could do to work around this, without spending a ton of money on some type of SATA external transfer kit? Thanks in advance

EDIT: I just thought about it... would I be able to use the old hard drive enclosure to transfer the xbox 1 emulator partition 2 from my old 60gb hard drive onto my pc, then put the new 250gb hard drive into the enclosure and connect it to my pc and then transfer the xbox 1 emulator onto it using Xplorer360? That seems like the easiest way, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Has anyone done it this way and had it work? I'd test it if I could but I don't have the transfer cable yet. =/

Help!!!

After I make a copy of partition 2 from my original Xbox 360 hard drive i then unplug the hard drive and plug the 250gb into my computer open up xplorer again and open the drive. the 250 shows all partitions so now i go and click restore partion 2 and choose the xboxbackup.bin now it says restoring... the green bar goes up bout 3/4 of the way and restarts, then does it again. I let that go on for 3 hours and still it did no restoring at all. please help.

@UnRevoked360
Run xplorer 360 as admin and it should work.It takes a few minutes to do this.

@AirJordan
That will work.That's what i did for my 250gb.

Alright cool. If I used the transfer cable to transfer all the data directly from the old hard drive to the new one first, before adding the xbox 1 emulator to the new drive from my pc, would it corrupt the saves of the xbox 1 games?
