Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

It's still not doing anything, just keeps restoring and restoring but doesn't do anything.

Edit: My external SATA box lights up green when my HDD inside is running right? So I run the program and everything is going fine.. 10+ mins go by and the program is still doing the same thing then the little green light on my SATA box goes off. What the hell is going on? =/ I checked my HDD and the device says it's working properly.. the Xplorer program is not working though.. just keeps filling up the green bar over and over.

a fix for this is to format in the xbox 360 so it asks for the xbox 360 serial # and then use the restore option in xplorer360.(for future reference)

Im stuck on a part while running hddhackr

Ok i have a 320gb scorpio blue and i did everything up untill the part where you flash the firmware, i type in HDDSS.BIN as the file name for sector 16-22, and i get "Enter the firmware backup file name". what do i enter for that?

go into windows and format the drive if it pops up as a western digital drive look in device manager under disk drives if your unsure

Hard drive crashes

Thanks for writing this tutorial it's great. I was able to get the drive to show up in the 360 however my system keeps crashing, and takes awhile to boot to the dashboard like my system is having trouble reading the drive. I'm using an older white XBOX does that have something to do with it? It freezes at the start up, and when I actually get to the dashboard it will randomly freeze while going through the menu's.

I'm wondering if I should format the drive in the xbox, maybe that will help?

Also I never had these problems before with the older drive.

Thanks for the help

What model of drive did you hack?

Try formatting it, that doesn't sound normal so it could be a defective drive.

It's the same 250gb drive from tutorial, I'm at work atm so I'll try to format it when I get home thanks for reply

If you can't get it to format in xbox 360 run hddhackr(latest) and use the create partitions option. You might need to transfer partition 2 again.

According to Wikipedia, the special edition GoW and R2D2 320GB console is coming out, which means eventually we can use a 320GB hard drive to its fullest.

How soon can we expect instructions/files to be updated after the console is released.

maybe the same release date, just depends who receives the console and uploads the hddss.bin for 320gb

Think its the drive

I think it's the drive, I have a bunch of them where I work so I'll try some of the other ones 2morro if not order a new 1 for "stock" lol.

I was thinking it was because of the XBOX I have, it's the older white one with the HDMI in the back but it was reading the drive so I guess it's the drive.

you can undo your drive with the undo.bin file
format your hdd with windows
remove or move the undo file from the flash drive
start the guide over
