Select your USB drive
Set the file system as FAT
Tick quick format and Create bootable drive
Select the box with 3 dots and choose the USB Drive Boot Files\MS-DOS folder as the location.
Hit start and you will have a bootable usb drive within a few seconds.

Sorry about this but new question i put my flash drive in and it boots right up to the windows millenium screen i typed hddhackr, f, y, and then it didnt prepare it just said it was done and ready for the xbox 360..... should it have done this?

Do you think MS will eventually ban people for this? Couldn't they just be using 3rd party generic drives (notably 120gb, since 120gb slim was never released) instead of butchering their older phat 360 hard drives and thus, the 'not knowing' end user trying to save a few bucks (college crowd, etc) would suffer the most?

Aren't 3rd party generic and butchering the phat 360 compatible drives the same thing on MS' end?

I hope they dont state bans, this is the ONLY reason I have a 360 is to play live. no interest in single player.

Especially if this is all people are doing... I would think MS would rather have a banwave for people still trying to use pirated games on their servers.

Also, does it matter that I reformatted the hard drive on my phat 360 and then slid it in? Or should I have reformatted it on my 360 slim before using LIVE and such?

All they could do is disable the hard drive which I don't think they can do.They can't ban you because there was no console modification done.

I use my hdd on both my slim xbox & phat xbox,you only need to format it once.

This could be technically true, but is this more just to prevent people from talking about it because MS would prefer you buy it from them and they don't want discussions of it on their message board? It was posted back in May, so I think if they were to do anything, they would have by now.

I think lots of people would walk away from doing business with MS if they got banned for using 3rd party hard drives and weren't aware of this catch in the terms.

Microsoft is very greedy, they charge 2 times what a hard drive really costs.
With the ps3 you can use any laptop hard drive without any hacks.

Nope.This guide was made in 2009,after all of those years no one has been banned for using these drives.

• Hacked hard drives - maybe at some point Microsoft might release an update that can disable hacked hard drives like they did with the datel memory cards, however its almost been 2 years now and nothing has ever been done about hacked hard drives. (your using them to store purchases from live anyway...)

But still, I only wonder because I hope it's 'not a different game' considering 20,60,120 was never officially released with the slim 360 SKU's

Only 250gb and 320gb now as of recently optionally as an official MS accesoory.

But I hope for my own sake you are right. I think MS would really be crapping where it eats if they canned people with their own HD's. As has been said, they're used to store LIVE content, which is revenue $$$ for them.

And I really think if they burned me on this one, I would *never* give them my business again buying a 3rd 360.

Will it be able to play back up games and original xbox games?

2.It will not play back up gamesand it will play original xbox games if you have the original game disc.

It's possible that Microsoft has left this alone because it's a niche concern, but maybe MOST importantly, no one is making money from this, as in InsaneNutter and the hackers are not taking donations.
