Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

hi rick

thanks again.

Does it work with WD 3200BEV? (not BEVS/BEVT)

@arses
Yes.You can only use 250gb.
@chris.gresock
It might work but if you have a sata drive already use that port.
There's a link on the first page for the slim case

Hi mates,

I'm new and I'm going to hack my WD 320GB HDD.

Just to confirm, does it work with WD 3200BEV External USB Device (full name in Device Manager)?

Many thanks

What is the benefit of using this guide vs using SwissKnife to format a 250GB Western Digital Scorpio? Does it basically do the same thing? I'm only asking bc it seems that using swissknife might be easier to do. I'm about to do this for a new 4GB slim console. I don't have any data I want to save/transfer and I don't need to play any old regular Xbox games. Thanks!!!

@moiztk
you can use the 250gb bin for the 640gb drive it will only show up as 250gb.If you want to use the full 640gb in a computer you need to keep your undo.bin(created automatically) to use the full drive.
@xxx101
this does not work with usb hard drives but you can always open the enclosure and take the drive out and connect it via sata.(im not sure if it works with 3200BEV.in the guide it says bevs)
@jared
this program hddhackr flashes the drive's firmware and formats it in the xbox360 format.swissknife will not work

Okay, thanks Rick! I can skip the Xplorer 360 step bc I don't care about old xbox games, correct? Also, I found the 250gb Scorpio Blue on Amazon for $40 shipped. Are there any sites that have it cheaper? I'd also like to get a case if you know where I can find one for cheap. Thanks again!

I need a wd5000bevt undo.bin if anyone has theirs laying around please.

btw this drive works but i need the extra space now in my pc again.

I really need some help here guys, I've looked everywhere but I can't find a solution. I followed the tutorials but im getting this error(picture) Can somebody please help me? Thanks in advance! IMG_0046.JPG

Hi danilo303

I see your HDD is Hitachi.
it must be Western Digital.
in first page and several times after all the senior members said it must be western digital not Hitachi.
hddss.bin cant be match with hitachi firmware.
this hack work with WD HDD as listed in first post.

Microsoft aren't banning for using unofficial hard drives, they're banning for using modified DVD drives however. But yeah, the hardest part of this for most people is finding their T6 screw driver.

i agree with you but you may get lucky and find a t6 bit in those litter cheap husky sets at home depot

hi

is it possible to use WD 3.5" like
WD Caviar Blue for this hack?
I know it cant be fit in xbox 360 HDD case but simple with the cable is possible.

anyone get bann for this?
This has been answered several times so you can look through the posts to find out or be scared, to make it easier it was actually answered right above you.

I really doubt it as the Xbox seems to be pretty finicky and writing the sectors at the end are probably different. Really the only way to know for sure is probably by trying it as I doubt that anyone ever really has.

i just wasnt sure :)... so i have asked if someone got bann for this.. i wikll search the thread :) i cant wait, i have order this disc:
WD 2,5" 250GB SATA2 16/7200 -Black- (WD2500BEKT) - WESTERN DIGITAL
it was so hard to find 250Gb scorpio black disc in slovenia :) and im from slovenia, sry for my bad english :S
EDIT: something else i want to know... is 30Mb USB key to small for this? I dont need it, it was my first USB(long time ago :))

Hi, Im using the Western Digital 250gb bevt...

Hi danilo

I saw the photo again. It is appear that the manufacturer is Hitachi. maybe u entered wrong number of SATA drive.
be sur that u disconnected all of hardwares connected then connect WD HDD and try again.
try to connect ur WD HDD to the same SATA cable that ur PC HDD is connected.
be sur that u rename (HDDSS_250GB.BIN to HDDSS.BIN).

experience is the best teacher. dont forget
