Easily update your Jtagged or RGH Xbox 360 to Kernel / Dashboard 14699 with XeBuild

Hey Insanenutter, not really sure why this is happening. _jtag.ini file is the original that came with xeBuild.

Edit: Never mind, used a different program and updated to 14719 so this doesn't matter to me right now.

No if you update your retail nand to the update released last week your RGH mode will no longer work.

Following this will update you to 14699, presuming you are on a lower dash version for your RGH nand.
 
Thanks for the post man, really helpful. I just get my 360 rgh and wanted to ask a couple of questions, do i "need" to update the ms dashboard, i am already on 14719 kernel and i was just wondering for future updates, second can i install freestyle dash, i am currently on xexmenu, third what do i do i dont have the original nand dump and want to update my ms dash?, thanks in advance :)
 
You dont need to update it all the time, however you will need to update when a major update is released. I do the major update at the end of each year and have managed not to update until the same time next year.

Usually when you need to update its to support new hardware or features, e.g. the Kinect, or Smartglass which will be released later this year. Updates released throughout the year are usually very minor, e.g. the washed out colour issue a few people had, or anti piracy updates which are not required for a Jtag / RGH users.

If you install Dashlaunch: https://digiex.net/downloads/downlo...launch-3-02-download-jtag-rgh-xbox-360-a.html that will allow games that need a newer dashboard version than the one you currently have to load, providing they don't need any libraries not on your system. So basically with Dash launch installed if a game doesn't work thats when you need to update.

Yes you can use FSD you just need to change your launch.ini (on the root of your hard drive) to boot FSD and not XEX Menu.

You can dump your existing nand, as explained in this tutorial.
 
Many thanks for the quick and accurate answer :), one last question though :), doesn't the latest FSD contain DashLaunch or the option to install it with it and configure it to launch FSD at the start up?

im trying to use nand i dumped since i dont have the original nand. i used flash360 and dumped onto a usb stick and tried to update to 15574 with jrunner. i also tried to use xebuild and both got the same error. what do you suggest? thanx for your help.
 
Hello pplz.

Ive tried this guide, and got an error. E71.
I didnt get any errors when i ran through the guide.
Im a noob at this jtag thing and dont know what to do, nighter do i know how to fix.
Ive tried a few things, to fix it. Problem occur when i power on the consol. i see the logo and then the error message.
1. sync fix doenst do anything.

Hope someone can help a noob ;)

Great instructions! Thank you very much, but I have a small "weird" problem. It seems if I go under Games - My Games and choose either XeXMenu or Freestyle Dash it just kicks me to the home of the xbox. But if from home I choose Quick Play and select XeXmenu it works fine. Any idea why!? I dont really like Xex and prefer Freestyle dash and I dont know what to do. Please advise!?

you might have to use the latest version of DashLaunch to do it, maybe the shortcut is corrupt?
