Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

If this has been addressed before, I apologize.
1. What about using 3.5 in. hard drives via an extension cable? I have a pile of the 3.5's around. I'd rather buy cable than buy another HDD.
2. What does a a successfully patched HDD look like to Windows systems? Usable?

Found answer to #1: power. Soldering. I have another solution: power from my PC. A 3.5" solution will be a frankenstein anyway.
Still digging for #2. If I ever get a HDD patched, I'll just have to plug it into a windows box to find out.

I went through the hddhackr flash process but with it gets to the end instead of say congratulations....etc, I get a error message "Bad/Wrong Model or number offset!"

Attached is original undo.zip and post flash undo1.zip BIN files.

Bump. Is more information needed?

Strange one, what drive are you trying to hack?
I'd have thought you'd be able to tell from the UNDO file?
WD3200KS-00PFB0
MOBO: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD 790XT-G45 (MS-7388) with latest BIOS
It's a 3.5" drive
See 1st posting for the UNDO files.

*bump* Is this a dead issue? Should I move on?

Usually any problems like that are related to the sata chipset been used to hack the drive, I had no trouble when i created this tutorial years ago. However when i came to do a newer drive using modern hardware I had a lot of trouble. In the end I used an older netbook.

I know it doesn't help much but it's a tricky topic to really provide much more info on than I have in the tutorial sadly.

Anyone know if WD2500LPVX would work? Also if I do not care about backwards compatibility do I need to do the Restoring the Xbox Classic Emulator and User Content: section.

The drives in the LPVX series should work, someone has confirmed the WD5000LPVX does. I'd imagine the 250gb version of that drive will also work with that in mind.

Hello I have a xbox360 black and I want to try to hack the hardrive
do you have a list of western digital hard rive 100% compatible ?
I will banned from live if I use a hacked hard drive ?

You will not be banned, the first post in this thread has a list.

A good drive to hack would be the WD5000LPVX
